How we work

How we build websites and internal tools, who owns what we build, how switching from your current provider works, how we support it after launch, and how pricing works.

How a build runs

The same six steps, whether we're building a website or an internal tool.

  1. A call

You tell us what's going on, and we reply within 1 business day to arrange it.

  2. A review of what you have now

Your site or systems, your hosting, and who has access.

  3. A plan and a price

What we'll build, and what it costs.

  4. We build it, in your own accounts

You can follow along the whole way, through a preview link, regular check-ins and written updates.

  5. Launch

Nothing is switched over until the new version has been running and has been tested.

  6. We look after it

On a monthly retainer, with a reply target for every level of urgency.

Websites

We build new websites, and we take over websites that someone else built.

A new website

We design and build it, then look after it once it's live: updates, backups, security checks and fixes.

The website you already have

We take it over, including WordPress sites. It stays on its current hosting with us looking after it, or moves to AWS if it needs to.

How switching works ›

Moving off WordPress

We've moved businesses off WordPress onto custom web apps. Afterwards the site no longer depends on WordPress plugins to keep running.

Internal tools and web apps

We build internal tools, forms and reports in your own accounts, behind proper sign-in.

When your website has become an internal tool

The internal pages move into an app behind proper sign-in, so they're no longer publicly reachable.

Connected to the tools you use

QuickBooks, Google Workspace, Slack and Monday, plus custom APIs and AI integration.

What we've built

A project tracker connected to QuickBooks, a data platform a business runs on, and a field reporting platform.

Who owns what we build

You own everything we build, and we never withhold your access.

We help you set up your own accounts and give our team the access it needs. We recommend keeping every asset in your accounts while we manage it, so you're free to move to another provider.

  • SelectROW

The platform runs on SelectROW's own infrastructure. We maintain it.

  • RTM Manufacturing

The project tracker runs in RTM's own AWS account, which we helped them set up. We maintain it.

Switching from your current provider

When we take over a website from another provider, the switch runs in 5 steps.

  1. Get admin, hosting, domain and DNS access from your current provider.

  2. Take a full backup before anything changes.

  3. Audit plugins, themes and user accounts, and check which pages are publicly reachable that shouldn't be.

  4. Fix the urgent items first.

  5. Take over hosting and updates, either on your current hosting with us looking after it, or moved to AWS if it needs to move.

Nothing is switched over until its replacement has been running and has been tested.

Support after launch

When something needs attention, you log a ticket on the site and choose its urgency. You get a confirmation email straight away, and our team gets an alert at the same moment.

UrgencyWhat countsFirst reply from our team
CriticalThe site or system is down, data is exposed, or orders or payments are failing1 hour, during business hours
HighSomething important is broken, and there is a workaround4 business hours
NormalSomething is wrong but not blocking, or a change request1 business day
LowQuestions and small content changes2 business days

Business hours

8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, in your time zone. We serve clients in Australia and the US.

Outside business hours

A Critical ticket is picked up by our team in the other time zone.

What counts as a reply

A reply from a person on our team. The confirmation email you get straight away doesn't count.

Pricing

We don't publish prices. We work out pricing with you on a call.

Building it

Each build is priced per project, depending on the job. Some are a fixed price and some are billed on time. Either way, the price is agreed after the review, before we start building.

Looking after it

Ongoing support is a monthly retainer, and the response times above apply to every client. The retainer covers hosting and monitoring; updates, backups and security checks; fixes and small changes; and planning what's next.

Tell us what you need built or looked after

We'll reply within 1 business day to arrange a time. Ongoing support is a monthly retainer, and we work out pricing on the call.
